The reverse weave technique, first used in 1938, requires heavyweight cotton cut along the cross-grain, as opposed to stitching the sweatshirt vertically. This revolutionary technique eliminates shrinkage and helps maintain the shape of the sweatshirt for longer. Sinker machines, which succeeded loopwheel machines, increased the speed of fabric production. This Heavyweight Crewneck Sweatshirt is made from 14oz. fabric constructed horizontally, unlike the vertical construction typically seen in sweatshirts from the 1940s era, resulting in no seams on the shoulders.
